How it all began

In 2004 Gloria Ramirez founded Glorious Being Center,  a 501 c3 non-profit organization, with the intention of supporting people in their journey to embrace the greatness within. We have empowered thousands of people to believe in themselves and to transform from the inside out. In 2010, one of our board members, Joy Vodofsky went on a mission to West Africa with her daughter-in-law, Heather Arouh,  to volunteer at The Potters Village (formerly WORCSA) orphanage in the small village of Dodowa, Ghana. After meeting the 77 orphaned children and several abused women who were living in adverse conditions, they knew they had to take action. This was the beginning of the plan to provide a permanent home, a  higher standard of living and education for these children and women.

Joy Vodofsky lost her 12-year old daughter Julia to leukemia in 1994 and has organized an annual event for ten years“Dancing from the Heart” because of Julia’s love of dance. On December 4th, 2010 we held our first fundraising event to raise funds solely to build a permanent home for the children of the The Potters Village (formerly WORCSA) orphanage.

The event was a huge success. We had the great honor of having celebrity motivational speaker Les Brown, attend and support our event. A great time was had by all. We are very grateful to all of our sponsors, donors, program book supporters, volunteers and attendees of the event, and especially to the extraordinary performance of Meg Segreto’s Dance Centre students. We thank and appreciate the good work of the Miramar Cultural Center were we held the event.

We raised a total of $28,500.
